shares a studio space with 5 other people
important to have studio space instead of home- felt to lonely- good to no other people are working around you.
graduated 2010
spent first year trying to figure out what is is to be a freelance illustrator - gains perspective, time to develop. first year- lonely
moved to london - likes the challenge of treading water, being pushed out safe zone for stimulation
because there is noone hovering over you- you have to manage your own time and work.
paints with wash on paper
works fairly small so she can scan in and develop digitally , also makes them quicker to produce.
what are you trying to achieve with your 'style'
likes to maintain quality of what you can do with your hands- what cameras can't do.
gestural style- to put life into illustrations.
like to work bigger and shrink down after so she can add more details.
process of receiving a brief to delivering art works-
good to keep drawings you hate to be able to look back and see how far you've come.
go from beginning to end with one drawing/painting instead of working on numerous and picking the best .
what happens if you find something your not happy with half way though?
start over - if theres no chance of rescue.
painting by hand is easier than computer.
doesn't like giving everything away at once - add interest
being able to draw is essential
can't work completely without reference photos - not necessarily coping completely.
